Piccadilly’s iconic hotel, The Dilly, has relaunched its famous London-themed afternoon tea menu with a brand-new twist. Served in the elegant Terrace at The Dilly, the new menu will be displayed on a unique London bus-shaped stand and will consist of quintessentially British staples and stunning patisserie treats resembling some of London’s most famous landmarks.
To start, diners can enjoy four homemade savoury sandwiches, including a Coronation chicken sandwich served on white bread, an egg and mustard cress sandwich served on rustic onion bread, a carrot, cucumber and coconut cream cheese sandwich layered between slices of soft country malt bread, and a smoked salmon, cucumber and cream cheese sandwich served on white bread.
Guests can also indulge in a stunning collection of cakes and sweet treats in the shape of key London landmarks, including the iconic Tower Bridge; a pear frangipane with vanilla cremeux and pear and rosemary chutney and St Paul’s Cathedral; made from spiced plum, ginger sable and candy walnuts. Big Ben will also grace the menu again, made of a caramel chocolate ganache, sea salt and a dark chocolate sable, and a classic London double-decker bus will come presented in the form of a mango and passionfruit cheesecake. Both plain and raisin scones will also be served alongside clotted cream and a sweet strawberry jam to tie together this British tradition.
For those looking to celebrate a special occasion, guests can enjoy perfectly paired glasses of champagne, including Pommery Louis English Sparkling and Pommery Brut Royal NV. There will also be a wide choice of teas from The Tea Makers of London to choose from, such as the classic English breakfast and Earl Grey, as well as some warming herbal teas, including Jasmine green tea and peppermint tea.
The new London Afternoon Tea, which is available now for £49 per person, will be served daily from 12:30pm – 4pm. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options will also be available, as well as an afternoon tea menu suitable for kids for £39.
