St Pancras International launches ‘Art of Travel’ summer pop-up

St Pancras by Searcys’ summer pop-up this year takes inspiration from The Art of Travel, transforming Europe’s longest Champagne Bar into London’s most stylish pre-holiday destination. The summery lounge bar will be open from 7am to 11pm, from 17 July to 9 September. Guests are invited to sit back and soak up the charm of the world-class station, as they enjoy a glass of Champagne, a brand new The Art of Travel Afternoon Tea, and menus that pay homage to no less than twelve much-loved European cities and holiday spots. The Art of Travel by Searcys in partnership with Veuve Clicquot, Globe-Trotter and Sipsmith Gin, will transform the world-renowned Champagne Bar and take guests on a European travel journey, without leaving the station.

The Art of Travel Afternoon Tea

A travel-inspired Afternoon Tea menu will kick off the summer celebrations at St Pancras by Searcys. Available from 3 June and throughout the summer, the menu plays on delicacies from a handful of European cities – all served in a stylish travel suitcase. With the Eurostar at our fingertips, St Pancras’ brand-new afternoon tea menu gives a taste of travels to come, delighting guests with the classic French Opera gâteauBelgian white chocolate mousse, passion fruit Swiss meringue pie and more.

In true Searcys’ style, the generous afternoon tea menu also includes Burford Brown’s egg mayonnaise bun, smoked salmon warm crumpet, York ham and wholegrain mustard, and delicious homemade scones. For those looking for a healthy twist before their holidays, the platter also includes an avocado and quinoa wrap.

A European summer getaway: The Art of Travel pop-up

Opening on 17th July, The Art of Travel pop-up marks the second stage of summer celebrations at St Pancras International, with each of the twelve private booths in the Champagne Bar being transformed into a different European city destination. Ranging from Eurostar destinations like Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam to further flung European favourites like San Remo, Porto and Reims, each city will bring a little essence of its culture to the Champagne Bar at St Pancras by Searcys. Each booth will be decorated in pastel colours displaying their correspondent city map, with signs to each destination presented in a tasteful and pared back style.

Guests are invited sit at one of the twelve booths and push the famous “Press for Champagne” button for an exclusive experience in Champagne tasting. St Pancras Champagne Bar by Searcys was the first bar in London to introduce the charming switch, back in 2007 when it was first launched. For the Art of Travel pop up, Champagne partners Veuve Clicquot have selected their Yellow Label, Rosé, Extra Brut Extra Old and Rich Rosé cuvées. Hailing from the famed town of Reims, home of the Champagne house and one of The Art of Travel “towns”, the brand is credited with creating the first modern Rosé Champagne. Their bright and distinctive yellow label makes Veuve Clicquot the perfect summer Champagne. Searcys extensive list of Champagne and sparkling wines will also be on offer during the summer.

Meanwhile, English suitcase company Globe-Trotter will partner with Searcys to create an atmosphere of timeless sophistication and style. Established in 1897 and synonymous with great British design, Globe-Trotter is reputed for its iconic yet practical luggage, which draws on the romance of train travel across Europe for inspiration. A stunning display of Globe-Trotter’s brand-new Riviera collection will set the scene, while guests can also enjoy a cocktail list showcasing Sipsmith Gin. The first copper distillery to be set up in London since 1820, Sipsmith have an unwavering passion for small-batch, hand-crafted gin made the way it should be.

As well as being visually show-stopping, Drinks Ambassador Joel Claustre has carefully created a cocktail and Champagne list to match the atmosphere. Presented in a beautiful passport shape cover, the menu includes a selection of Veuve Clicquot Champagnes available by the glass and bottle. Four bespoke Gin-based cocktails have been created in collaboration with Sipsmith, which includes a very special Champagne and gin cocktail titled “Take on the French 75”. This marries Veuve Clicquot and Sipsmith for the ultimate cocktail experience, a delectable mix of orange, cocoa, bitters, Sipsmith gin and Veuve Clicquot Champagne.

With an air of romance about the art of slow travel, St Pancras International is the perfect destination to indulge as guests soak up the Victorian architecture and enjoy a taste of travel before or after boarding their train.
