London Repair Week 2025 Inspires a Sustainable Future

Mark your calendars: London Repair Week is back and bigger than ever! From 3rd to 9th March 2025, this impactful initiative will inspire Londoners to think creatively about repair, sustainability, and the joy of giving old items a new lease on life. With events happening across London and even expanding to Greater Manchester, Liverpool City Region, Belfast, Cardiff, and County Durham, this week-long celebration of repair culture is one not to miss.

Why London Repair Week Matters More Than Ever

We live in a world where discarding broken items has become second nature. Yet, research conducted by Imperial College London in 2024, and published by ReLondon, reveals a startling reality: Londoners threw away £1.9 billion worth of repairable items in 2023. That’s an average of over £250 worth of items per adult!

Shockingly, nearly half of all electrical items sent for recycling could have been reused, with an additional 10% needing only minor repairs. However, barriers like cost, skills, and accessibility prevent many people from pursuing repairs. London Repair Week aims to change that narrative by promoting repair culture as a practical, cost-effective, and climate-conscious solution.

What to Expect During London Repair Week

Whether you’re a DIY enthusiast or simply curious about fixing things, London Repair Week offers something for everyone. From hands-on workshops to expert-led talks, this year’s expanded lineup is designed to inspire, educate, and connect Londoners with local repair heroes.

Events Across the City and Online

The week will feature over 140 events, hosted by around 70 partners at various locations across London. Expect workshops on fixing electronics, mending clothes, and even upcycling furniture. For those who can’t attend in person, online sessions will also be available, ensuring everyone can join in the fun.

Repair Culture: A Win for Your Wallet and the Planet

Repairing isn’t just about saving money—it’s also about reducing waste and combating climate change. By repairing your belongings instead of replacing them, you’re helping to cut down on the 1.9 billion tonnes of waste generated globally each year.

Repairing items also allows us to fall back in love with possessions that might otherwise be forgotten. That trusty toaster, your favorite jacket, or that wobbly chair can all find new life with a little TLC.

The Bigger Picture: Why Repair Week Matters

London Repair Week isn’t just about fixing broken items—it’s about reshaping how we think about consumption and waste. By encouraging repair over replacement, the initiative supports a circular economy, reduces landfill waste, and helps fight climate change.

The numbers speak volumes. If every Londoner repaired even one item instead of discarding it, the collective impact would be monumental. Beyond the environmental benefits, the economic savings for households would be significant, making repair culture a win-win for everyone.

Join the Repair Revolution

London Repair Week 2025 is more than just a series of events—it’s a call to action. By participating, you’re not only saving money but also contributing to a more sustainable, thoughtful way of living. Whether you’re learning to mend clothes, restore electronics, or simply exploring local repair businesses, this week is your opportunity to embrace creativity and make a real difference.

Let’s repair, reuse, and reduce waste together. The tools are ready, the workshops are waiting—are you in?
