L’oscar hotel to launch Sip & Savour Society

This July, L’oscar hotel will be launching its Sip & Savour Society, an exciting lineup of dinners and events which will be hosted throughout the year. From an exclusive wine dinner in July to festive wreath making for Christmas, the events will be taking place in various parts of the hotel so guests can enjoy the full L’oscar experience.

The Baptist Grill will be kicking off the events on 11th July by opening its doors for a five-course wine dinner, looking at the iconic terroirs of the South of France and with each course paired with a specially selected Gérard Bertrand wine. Priced at £95 per person, guests will be able enjoy dishes such as Rabbit and prosciutto, marjoram and pepper relish paired with a Crémant de Limoux, or a Roast Cumbrian striploin with snail raviolis, cassis shallots and mousseline potato paired with a powerful yet elegant La Forge from the Corbières-Boutenac region of the Languedoc.

In September, guests will get a chance to enjoy L’oscar hotel’s Saint and Sinner Afternoon Tea alongside live demonstrations on how to make the best tea cakes, as well as a talk on the exceptional quality of teas provided by theRare Tea Company. The afternoon tea showcases an extensive selection of savoury bites and sweet treats, such asPoached salmon with virgin olive oil and beetroot bread and Devil’s food cake.  Whilst the The Saint Afternoon Tea is accompanied by a selection of teas, The Sinner Afternoon Tea offers a boozy twist with a selection of three refreshing tea-infused cocktails, including the Charon au champagne cocktail made with rooibos tea infused Ketel one vodka, blood orange and champagne. This interactive afternoon tea evening in the Library Room will take place on Saturday 7th September and will cost £65 – £85, depending on whether guests feel like a saint or a sinner. £2 from each Afternoon Tea will be donated to Rhythms of Life, L’oscar hotel’s local homeless charity.

On 11th October,  L’oscar will be hosting a ‘Dine Around’ evening, where guests will enjoy a three-course meal with wine pairings, cocktails and canapés whilst moving between the hotel’s beautiful dining rooms. The evening will begin with a Saint or a Sinner cocktail and a selection of canapés in The Baptist Bar, which will be followed by delicious starters served at Café L’oscar. Dishes will include Steak tartare with devilled bone marrow toasts or Half dozen Lindisfarne oysters. Main courses will be served underneath the beautiful dome in The Baptist Grill where guests will can choose from dishes such as Roast Cornish cod with soft dill crust, buttered charlotte potatoes and warm tartare sauce or Vegetable pithivier with aubergine caviar, Oglesheild cheese, leeks and romesco sauce. The evening will finish with a dessert station in the Committee Room, one of the private dining rooms, which showcases original decorative features and a level of craftsmanship that exemplifies the Arts and Crafts Movement.  Tickets will be priced at £135 per person and include all food, drinks and service.

November will feature a Tanqueray Gin Masterclass with live entertainment in The Baptist Bar.  Guests will start the afternoon’s activities with a refreshing welcome cocktail, which will lead nicely into an hour long tutored masterclass where guests will learn all about the fascinating world and history of Tanqueray Gin. Once the masterclass has finished, guests will sit back and relax with a selection of drinks and canapes while enjoying the live music entertainment at The Baptist Bar. This masterclass will take place on the Saturday 9th November and tickets will cost £60 per person.

In December, L’oscar will be encouraging guests to step into the festive spirit with their Christmas wreath making workshop, complete with mulled wine and canapés. The workshop will take place on 11th December, with tickets priced at £80 per person.
