Signature Brew x TATE Unveil Limited Release: ‘Ready Made’

Credit: Signature Brew

Signature Brew, the award-winning brewery, has announced its latest limited release collaboration with TATE Modern, the London gallery home to the UK’s national collection of contemporary and modern art. ‘Ready Made’ is the second launch from the brewery’s exclusive partnership with the prestigious institution following the success of Riot Grrrl in 2023.

Ready Made is a new hazy pale beer created to celebrate the ‘Mike Kelley: Ghost and Spirit’ exhibition. Running until 9th March 2025, the exhibition is the first major UK exhibition for the American artist and musician; it features the provocative and imaginative worlds created by Kelley, and explores identity, memory, and popular culture.

The latest addition to the Signature Brew collaboration line up that aims to create world class beers through exciting partnerships with artists, musicians and brands. Ready Made has been carefully crafted to draw on the spirit of found objects and the unexpected connections they create. Just as Kelley’s art explored identity, memory, and popular culture, Ready Made blends diverse elements to deliver a unique new beer.

The limited release 3.4% abv hazy pale extra hoppy beer is stripped back and refined, pairing ‘sessionability’ with big hits of citrus flavour, offering a nod to both Kelley’s creative process and the depth of his imaginative worlds. It features a striking label designed by Steve Beech, inspired by Kelley’s work. Available for the on-trade and consumers to pre-order now and on-sale online from 4th Nov until 31st March 2025, Ready Made, £18 x6 440ml, 3.4%.

Sam McGregor, Signature Brew Co-Founder & Growth Director comments, “Following on from the success of Riot Grrrl last year when we worked with the TATE on their Women In Revolt exhibition, we didn’t have to wait long until another perfect opportunity came along to work together. The inimitable work and unique style of Mike Kelley that gave so much to the musicians he worked with, has now inspired a new beer. Ready Made is our homage to Kelley’s work, and our long-time in-house designer Steve Beech has again delivered an incredible can design inspired by Kelley’s work.”

From its brewery and music venue base in Blackhorse Road, London, Signature Brew is shaking up the beer scene as the world’s leading brewery for band and artist collaborations. Working with more musicians than any other brewery on the planet, Signature Brew crafts exclusive, music-inspired beers that deliver partnerships like no other.

Ready Made follows the success of award-winning beer Riot Grrrl, the first beer from Signature Brew, that was crafted in collaboration with the TATE Modern to mark the launch of its ‘Women In Revolt’ exhibition – the first of its kind, wide-ranging exploration of feminist art by over 100 female artists working in the UK.

Andrew Downs, Commercial Director, Tate Eats, comments, “In celebration of the Mike Kelley: Ghost and Spirit exhibition at Tate Modern, Tate Eats has joined forces with Signature Brew to create “Ready Made,” a Hazy Pale Ale that pays homage to Kelley’s use of found objects. This 3.4% brew is crisp, refreshing, and effortlessly drinkable, it’s ideal for listening to Sonic Youth after viewing the exhibition or as a tasty pint with mates. Known for rocking beers and stylish packaging, Signature Brew has crafted a beer that captures the essence of Kelley’s playful and unconventional approach. Cheers to friends, collaboration, creativity, and a truly smashable pint!”

From the late 1970s to 2012, Mike Kelley made a diverse body of work using drawing, collage, performance, found objects, and video. In addition to being a renowned visual artist, Kelley was also a musician. He was a longtime friend of Kim Gordon when he created the artwork for Sonic Youth’s 1992 album Dirty. Spanning Kelley’s entire career, the new TATE exhibition features his breakthrough ‘craft’ sculptures made from textile and plush toys through to his multi-media installations such as Day Is Done.

Drawing on references from popular and underground culture, literature, and philosophy, Kelley explores how the roles we play in society are entangled with historical fact and imaginary characters from the films and images we consume. Over a decade since his passing, Kelley’s reflections on identity and memory continue to resonate.

Signature Brew makes beer that makes music better!
