London Chef Sude Hancher Wins National Accolade At The S.Pellegrino Young Chef Academy Competition 2024-25 UK

  • Sude’s win was announced at the S.Pellegrino Young Chef Academy gala evening, hosted at the NoMad Hotel in London with UK judging panel, Santiago Lastra, Nokx Majozi and Adam Smith in attendance
  • Sude’s award-winning dish of Cauliflower and Halibut, was recognised by the Sustainable Restaurant Association as showcasing the most sustainable practices

After rounds of competitive cooking, and outstanding displays of culinary prowess by some of the most talented young chef’s in the UK, S.Pellegrino Young Chef Academy has awarded Sude Hancher of Cornus in London, with its S.Pellegrino Social Responsibility award.

Sude competed against some of the best young chefs in the UK and won the S.Pellegrino Social Responsibility Award for her signature dish of Halibut & Cauliflower.

The 19-year-old is a Chef de Partie at Cornus in London and has developed her culinary skills since finding her passion as a young girl in Bulgaria following the footsteps of her mother, also a chef. Sude then went on to join Frenchie in 2020, where she discovered a love for French cuisine and she now continues to flourish at Cornus.

One of four awards to win on the night, Sude’s accolade celebrates the dish that represents the principle that food is better when it is the result of sustainable practices and was voted for by the Sustainable Restaurant Association.

Sude Hancher had this to say about her win “I am so thrilled to finish this competition with this award that celebrates sustainability in cooking. It has been a tough process, but I am so grateful for the experience and I have loved every second of it. To challenge myself amongst this group of amazing young chefs has been so rewarding, and I have learnt so much from it all. S.Pellegrino Young Chef Academy is a brilliant competition and I recommend all young chefs to apply for themselves.”

The S.Pellegrino Young Chef Academy Awards are held every two years to champion and celebrate young chef talent throughout the world, encouraging them to bring their best to the table.
