The Best Restaurants in London to Celebrate New Years Eve

With all the chaos of Christmas many find themselves stuck without plans for New Year’s Eve. Fortunately for the floundering few, there’s still time to book into one of the following restaurants offering something special to start 2019.

Stardust at Sartoria

Celebrate New Years Eve with a touch of Italian glamour this year at Sartoria’s very first Stardust party. Chef Patron Francesco Mazzei will be hosting a night to remember with a delectable four-course set menu followed by copious cocktails and dancing in the Libare Bar. After an arrival aperitif and canapés, the festive feast will begin with Roasted scallop, langoustine, green apple, cotechino and caviar followed by Lasagna pastachina. Next, Poached lobster will be served with braised veal cheeks and truffled lentils, and finally for dessert a Calabrian bergamot cream accompanied by a selection of pasticini. The menu is available for £120pp and reservations can be made online.

Ella Canta

This year to welcome in the new year, Mexican restaurant Ella Canta is offering guests the choice of two spectacular tasting menus that showcase the exquisite food of Chef Martha Ortiz’s homeland. From 5.30pm- 8.30pm a 5-course menu will be served with standout dishes including a Jicama pinwheel with devil’s style crab and avocado sauce ; Lamb ribs, wild greens and sikil-pak de hoja santa sauce and an indulgent Chocolate tart with peach and saffron, Papantla vanilla and gold leaf. From 9pm a 9-course menu will take diners on a culinary journey that promises to enliven and enhance the senses ready for when the clock strikes midnight. The latter menu encompasses additions such as Plantain molotes, corn cream and black truffles; Sun fire, Christmas mole, new potato, crispy shrimp; and Hibiscus sorbet with smoked chile. Both menus also include a Prickly Pear Bellini or a glass of Perrier-Jouët Champagne on arrival.Accompanied by music from one of their resident DJs and a sensational cocktail list entitled Mexico’s gifts to the world, New Year’s Eve at Ella Canta promises to be an unforgettable celebration in the true spirit of Mexico.

Margot

For a sophisticated start to the New Year, renowned restaurateurs Paulo de Tarso and Nicolas Jaouen are welcoming guests to join them for a spectacular 5-course set menu at their Italian restaurant Margot in Covent Garden. To start the proceedings a light and refreshing Crab, lime and cucumber crostino with Oscietra Caviar will be served, followed by Rock oyster tempura with shallots and vinegar dressing. Next diners can look forward to a Ravioli filled with Sicilian red prawns and scallops tartare with spicy lobster broth before the star of the menu; a decadent Roast fillet of beef with foie gras, spinach and black truffle. Finally, a Strawberry and pistachio parfait with champagne sorbet will provide the perfect ending to the luxurious feast. The menu is priced at £145pp and bookings details are online.

New Year’s Eve at M

Never one to shy away from a party – M are going all out with the celebrations this year to bid farewell to 2018 and see in the new year. Guests to the Threadneedle or Victoria Street sites can expect Champagne on arrival, live music, indoor fireworks and a DJ until late. Executive Chef Mike Reid has also devised a very special 5-course menu to commence the celebrations in style. For just £65pp the New Year’s Eve menu comprises Truffle Crisp, whipped cod’s roe, Bottega and sorrels followed by Cobia Sashimi, white soy sauce, cucumber and aged vinegar, before a wood-fired USDA fillet served with watercress puree, onions and mushroom ketchup steals the show. For dessert; White Christmas, coconut, golden raisin and pears, followed by white and milk chocolate Wagyu Truffles.

New Year’s Eve with Alyn Williams at The Westbury

In the quaint streets of Mayfair decked in festive splendour, Alyn Williams at The Westbury is offering two extra special menus exclusively for diners on New Year’s Eve. The evening will be divided into two sittings; the first, from 5.30 – 8.30pm comprises canapés, a 5-course menu and petits-fours for £90pp, or £160 with wine; whilst the second, from 9pm, includes canapés, a 7-course menu and petits-fours for £190pp, or £300 with wine. The menus are typical of Alyn William’s signature style; modern yet elegant and perfectly in tune with the seasons.  Diners in both sittings can look forward to dishes including Halibut, lemongrass, cabbage and brown shrimps and Beef fillet with artichoke, bone marrow, truffle and pommes mousseline followed by some festive desserts including Clementine, chocolate, and kaffir lime and Rhubarb, yoghurt and tarragon.

New Year’s Day Brunch at Tom’s Kitchen Chelsea

What better way to soak up the night before than with a big New Years’ Day Brunch from Tom’s Kitchen Chelsea. Alongside Tom Aikens’ take on a classic full English; Tom’s Breakfast Grill, options from the menu include Brioche French toast, Eggs Benedict (with optional truffle), Baked Turkish eggs and Tom’s vegetarian breakfast. To kickstart the new year in true style, from 10am-4pm diners can choose from a breakfast Martini, glass of Champagne, Mimosa or Bloody Mary to accompany their brunch for just £5.
